Damaged & Co (Maltese Metal Band)

Idea generation lies at the core of my multidisciplinary creative practice – and I’m especially drawn towards the intersection between visual art and music. So when Maltese metal band Damaged & Co spoke to me about their upcoming album’s predominant theme, I was immediately on board.
After presenting some visual concepts, we settled on the idea of a live grenade neatly housed within a deceitfully mundane-looking apple. Despite an outward, fabricated projection of the ideal, the concealed truth is often less desirable and more consequential. Thankfully we don’t always explode when we choose the wrong fruit at the supermarket. The addition of a butterfly (drawn to the darker side) introduces an extra, suspenseful narrative: is the insect’s gentle disturbance going to set off the grenade or not? We will never know.
