In her poignant memoir, author Luisa Castorina likens her mental health to the fragile shell of a shellfish – constantly threatened yet fiercely protective of the soft, vulnerable core inside.
Following discussions with the author I presented some concept sketches – most of which explored the imagery of a crouched female figure in a foetal position inside a tough, outer shell. The female figure is holding on to a pearl – implying the safeguarding of something personally meaningful.
